LTC James E. Adams

Professor of Military Science

Lieutenant Colonel James E. Adams is a native of Montana and a 1988 Distinguished Military Graduate of the University of Montana. He holds a Master’s Degree in Leadership Development and Counseling from Long Island University. His Military Education includes the Aviation Officer Basic Course, the Initial Entry Rotary Wing course, the AH-64 Apache Aircraft Qualification Course, the Aviation Officer Advanced Course, the Combined Arms Service Staff School, the AH-64D Longbow Apache Aircraft Qualification Course and the United States Army Command and General Staff College. Lieutenant Colonel Adams’ awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, 4 Meritorious Service Medals, 3 Air Medals, 2 Army Commendation Medals, and 3 Army Achievement Medals. Lieutenant Colonel Adams has been awarded the Air Assault Badge and the Senior Army Aviator Badge.








MAJ David B. Evans

Assistant Professor of Military Science / Executive Officer

Major Bruce Evans is a native of Georgia and a 1986 graduate of Mercer University. His Military Education includes the Armor Officer Basic Course, Airborne School, Ranger School, the Armor Officer Advanced Course, the Combined Arms Service Staff School, and the United States Army Command and General Staff College. His most recent assignments include: Operations Officer, USFK, Seoul, Korea; Resident Training Team Chief, 2-116 Cavalry, Twin Falls, Idaho; Operations Officer, 2-34 Armor, 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, KS; and Senior Battalion Advisor, Saudi Arabian National Guard, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Major Evans’ awards and decorations include the 3 Meritorious Service Medals, 5 Army Commendation Medals, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, 2 Army Achievement Medals, 2 National Defense Service Medals, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Medal. Major Evans is married to Erin Simmons of Chicago, Illinois, and they have two children, Lauren (17) and Aiden (3).








MAJ Howard Carpenter

Assistant Professor of Military Science / Training Officer

MAJ Howard D. Carpenter has served in the military for 26 years. MAJ Carpenter enlisted in 1980 and went straight into training to become a Special Forces Radio Operator, a position he held for 11 years. He received his commission through the O.C.S. program in 1991 and returned to Fort Bragg, NC to become a Special Forces Officer. He holds a B.S. in Sociology from Columbia College. MAJ Carpenter’s assignments in the 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne) include Special Forces Operational Detachment-A (SFODA) XO, SFODA Commander, Battalion Support Company Commander, Battalion Adjutant, Battalion Operations Officer, Group Assistant Operations Officer, Group Plans Officer, Group Operations Officer and as a Liaison Officer in the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force in Afghanistan.








LTC Gregory Stuart

Recruiting Operations Officer (ROO)

LTC Greg Stuart graduated from Weber State in 1979 with a degree in Political Science and was initially assigned to Ft. Dix, NJ where he served as Company XO, Commander and Battalion XO.  He left active duty in 1983 and joined the 19th SF Group, where he served as a Detachment Commander, Company XO, Group S-1 and Civil Affairs Officer.  He has been deployed to Hawaii, Alaska, the Philippines, Korea, Guam, Germany, Italy and Bosnia.  LTC Stuart has completed Airborne School, Ranger School, Special Forces School, and the Civil Affairs Course.  He is married to the former Shirley Garrett and they have five children.








MSG Peter A. Pulli

Senior Military Instructor

Master Sergeant Peter A. Pulli is a native of Salt Lake City, Utah. He holds a Masters of Human Relations Degree from the University of Oklahoma and a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland. He has over 20 years of experience in the United States Army and has held every leadership position from Squad Leader to First Sergeant. His Military Education includes the Primary, Basic and Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer Leadership Courses, Battle Staff NCO Course and the United States Army Sergeant Major’s Academy First Sergeants course. Master Sergeant Pulli’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, three Meritorious Service Medals, six Army Commendation Medals, six Army Achievement Medals and six Good Conduct Medals. Master Sergeant Pulli is married to Birgit Rannetsperger of Grunberg Germany and they have three children.








SFC Thomas C. Ziegelmann

Military Instructor

Sergeant First Class Thomas C. Ziegelmann graduated OSUT at FT Benning, GA as a Mechanized Infantryman in 1988. His assignments include 1st Bn 30th Infantry, Schweinfurt Germany, 2nd Bn 15th Infantry, Schweinfurt Germany, 3rd Bn 7thInfantry, FT Stewart Georgia, 1st Bn 9th Infantry  Korea, 2nd Bn 7th Infantry, FT Stewart Georgia. His Military Education includes the Primary, Basic and Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer Leadership Courses and The Bradley Master Gunner course. He is a combat veteran with over 19 years active service and has been to Desert Storm 1991, Operation Iraqi Freedom 1, 2003 and Operation Iraqi Freedom 3, 2005. His awards include The Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, 5 Army Commendation Medals, 6 Army Achievement Medals and 6 Good Conduct Medals. Positions held: Saw Gunner, Bradley gunner, Team leader, Squad leader, Company and Battalion Bradley Master Gunner, Section Sergeant and Platoon Sergeant.  








SGT Harris

National Guard Recruiter

SGT Harris entered the Utah Army National Guard in March of 2002, he enlisted into I Corp Artillery.  After serving two and a half years at I Corp, he transferred to Recruiting and Retention Command to serve as a Recruiting and Retention NCO.  SGT Harris has also served as a primary instructor for the Recruit Sustainment Program.  His military schools include Basic Combat Training, Administrative Specialist Course, Army National Guard Strength Maintenance Course, as well as Army Primary Leadership Development Course.
