Cadet John Huchel

Cadet Battalion Commander

Cadet Huchel graduated from Roy High School in the spring of 2000 and started Weber State University that following fall. He played on the Wildcat Club Baseball Team from 2000-2004. In 2003 he started at 2nd base for the NCBA National Championship team. He started in the program in the summer of 2008 by attending the Leadership Training Course (LTC) at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. He attended the Leadership Development Assessment Course (LDAC) at Ft. Lewis Washington this last summer with an overall Excellent assessment.  He graduated from WSU in 2006 with a Bachelor’s Degree in English and a minor in Public Relations. He is currently in the Criminal Justice program and branched Ordinance.








Cadet Brian Balls

Cadet Balls was born and raised in Hyrum, Utah and graduated with the class of 1999 from Mountain Crest High School.  From 2001-2003 he served a religious mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Alaska.  In 2004 he enlisted into the Utah National Guard 1/211th Attack Aviation Battalion repairing Apache attack aircraft.  In 2006 enrolled at Weber State University majoring in Criminal Justice.  Upon graduation he is to be commissioned as an active duty Second Lieutenant in the Medical Service Corps.








Cadet Matthew Woods

CDT Woods was born and raised in Alabama, but graduated High School in Sierra Vista, AZ.  At the age of 18 he was married to his wife and three days later he left for Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, SC.  He returned to Fort Huachuca, AZ for training as an Electronic Warfare Systems Maintainer.  Upon completion of AIT he remained at Fort Huachuca and supported the schoolhouse he had just graduated from.  He served for 3 ½ years active duty before being accepted into the ROTC on a Green to Gold Scholarship. He has now been married and affiliated with the Army for almost 7 years.  His major is Psychology and he will be entering the Medical Service Corps.








Cadet Ethan Rushton

Graduate of Hunter high school in 1998 located in West Valley City, Utah. Attended Dixie College in St. George Utah graduated with Associates of Science in the spring of 2000.  Enlisted in  the Utah National Guard  in the spring of 2002, as a medic with the 1-145th FA. While enlisted earned the rank of sargent, and was deployed to Iraq 2007-2008 and served as the Medical NCOIC for Delta company 1-145th F.A.  

Presently attending nursing school at Weber State University.








Cadet Joseph Orton

CDT Orton was born and raised in Ogden, UT where he was brought up among a family of five. He attended Ben Lomond High School and graduated in the top 10% of his class. While attending Ben Lomond High School, CDT Orton was heavily involved with JROTC and participated in a nationally ranked rifle team, and State Champion Drill, Pentathlon, and Colorguard.

CDT Orton is the recipient of a 4 year Advanced Designee Scholarship from the United States Army, where he chose to Attend Weber State University. CDT Orton has branched Adjutant General's Corp with a branch detail in Infantry.
