COL Dymek was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He is a 1986 graduate of the United States Military Academy, where he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army as an Armor Officer. Upon completion of the Armor Officer Basic Course, Second Lieutenant Dymek was assigned to 4th Battalion, 66th Armor in Aschaffenburg, Germany where he served as a Tank Platoon Leader, Scout Platoon Leader, and Tank Company Executive Officer. Following his tour in Germany, he attended the Armor Officer Advance Course and was re-assigned to Fort Stewart, Georgia. While at Fort Stewart, he served as Assistant Brigade S3 of the Victory Brigade, and then as the Squadron S3 Air and Alpha Troop Commander in 2nd Squadron, 4th Cavalry. Upon completion of troop command, CPT Dymek earned his Master’s Degree and returned to West Point as a Cadet Company Tactical Officer. He was subsequently assigned as the Special Assistant to the Commandant of Cadets, responsible for overseeing the Cadet Honor Committee and the Honor Education Program. Following his tours at the Military Academy and Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, MAJ Dymek served as a Division Plans Officer for the 25th Infantry Division (Light) in Schofield Barracks Hawaii. He then was assigned to 3d Squadron, 4th Cavalry as the Operations Officer and Executive Officer. Returning to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas LTC Dymek was an instructor and course author for the Command and General Staff Officers Course. While assigned to the Command and General Staff College, LTC Dymek also served as a Deputy Director, Strategic Plans and Policy, Combined Forces Command-Afghanistan, responsible for leading a Joint Planning Group in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. LTC Dymek served as the Battalion Commander for the 1st Battalion, 81st Armor Regiment at Fort Knox, Kentucky responsible for training the Army’s Abrams and Bradley Mechanics and the Marine Corps Armor Crewman and Tank Mechanics. Currently he serves as the Professor of Military Science for the University of Virginia Army ROTC Program in Charlottesville, Virginia. COL Dymek's military education includes the US Army Northern Warfare School, Armor Officer Basic Course, Armor Officer Advance Course, Junior Officer Maintenance Course, Combined• Arms Service Staff School, the Command and General Staff College, and the School of Advanced Military Studies. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (4-0LC), the Army Commendation Medal (OLC) and the Army Achievement Medal (2OLC). He holds a Masters of Science in Education from Long Island University and a Masters of Military Arts and Sciences. COL Dymek and his wife have one daughter, and one son.
