“The training and experience that I have already gained from the program is incredible. The Cadre teach the cadets quickly, but effectively, and then the cadets use what they have learned in a hands-on lab.”

Leadership And Excellence

Events and Activities

ROTC Offers Many Opportunities to Excel

In Army ROTC, it's not all classroom and field training. There are many opportunities for you to get to know your fellow cadets better and increase your skills in a variety of areas. Learn more about these events and activities below.

Ranger Challenge

The Ranger Challenge is an opportunity for schools to "compete" with each other completing military tasks. In addition to a written examination where Cadets test their Army knowledge, there are physical fitness drills and field exercises. Battalions leave a Ranger Challenge with stronger bonds and sharper skills.

Pershing Rifles

The National Society of Pershing Rifles gives Army ROTC Cadets the opportunity to develop to the highest degree possible. Cadets can take part in precision trick rifle drill teams that provide them with the outstanding traits of leadership, military bearing and discipline.

Classroom & Physical Fitness Training

Each week cadets attend an ROTC Class and physical fitness training sessions.  Classroom activities are designed to prepare cadets for leadership laboratories.

Leadership Labs

About 5-6 labs take place each semester, ranging from land navigation and map reading to squad tactics and combat water survival training.  Labs are cadet-lead training events.

Field Training Exercises

Each semester’s training culminates in an intense 48 field training exercise, where cadets “go to the field” and put their knowledge to the test.  FTX’s include rappelling, obstacle courses, field leader’s reaction course, patrolling, squad tactics, basic rifle marksmanship and much more!  Cadets sometimes have the opportunity to ride in Army aircraft enroute or during FTX events.
