Events and Activities

ROTC Offers Many Opportunities to Excel

In Army ROTC, it's not all classroom and field training. There are many opportunities for you to get to know your fellow cadets better and increase your skills in a variety of areas. Learn more about these events and activities below.

Ranger Challenge

The Ranger Challenge is an opportunity for schools to "compete" with each other completing military tasks. In addition to a written examination where Cadets test their Army knowledge, there are physical fitness drills and field exercises. Battalions leave a Ranger Challenge with stronger bonds and sharper skills.

Pershing Rifles

The National Society of Pershing Rifles gives Army ROTC Cadets the opportunity to develop to the highest degree possible. Cadets can take part in precision trick rifle drill teams that provide them with the outstanding traits of leadership, military bearing and discipline.

PT, Class, and Lab

Physical training is usually held at 6am MWF. PT conditions Cadets to be physically fit and to meet and exceed the standard expected of officers. Military Science Class is where students will learn the techniques, theories, and protocol of being a Soldier and an officer. Lab is generally held Thursday afternoon. During Lab Cadets will get a chance to put the knowledge they gained in Class to practical use. Lab often involves hands on training out in the field.

FTX

Field Training Exercises are weekend long excursions into the elements where cadets are challenges in a simulated deployment environment demanding of them all they have practiced and learned.

Cannon Crew

Cadets wishing to participate in Cannon Crew become the stewards of a long and fine Mizzou and ROTC tradition. At home football games, the crew is responsible for firing the cannon to commence the game and to signify points scored. The Cannon Crew plays an important role in all home football games and are right on the field, experiencing the action firsthand!
