Cadets work together to construct a terrain model.
Whether it is constructing a terrain model, developing an operations order, or participating in physical training everything is done as a team. Teamwork is the foundation of Army leadership. Good leadership is started with good followership because in order to give orders, a true officer has to know how to follow them.

“Right now since I am only a Freshman, I have not had to dedicate much time towards ROTC, but the impacts are academic: ROTC has influenced me to study more in order to get better grades for accessions. Socially I have made new friends through ROTC.”

Stand Out From The Rest
See how interesting college can be when you're a part of Army ROTC. You'll be
a college student first and foremost, just like the rest of the student body,
but there's a key difference: you'll have even more opportunities to succeed.
These opportunities include Field Training Exercises (FTXs) in the spring and
fall where Cadets build their teamwork and leadership skills. Cadets also
participate in Physical Training (PT) on a regular basis to keep up their
strength and endurance.
In addition, each battalion has its own unique calendar of events and activities.

Contracting as a Cadet in the Gopher Battalion
Contracting is the first major step towards becoming a leader and an Army
Officer. For many, this is when they will receive many of the financial
benefits that help pay for college. For others, this is the first major
decision they will make in their adult life. For everyone, this is a defining
moment in committing to excellence.

Training is the key to excellence at the University of Minnesota
Training is at the heart of the US Army, and the University of Minnesota is no
different. From military history, to rifle marksmanship, to infantry tactics,
to basic drill and ceremony, students in our program train on everything they
will need to know and experience to be the Army leaders they will need to be.

Armory Facilities at the University of Minnesota
The ROTC program is based at the Armory Building on the University of
Minnesota East Bank campus. We share the Armory with the Air Force, Navy and
Marine Corps ROTC programs. Our program is located on the second floor of the
building. Some of the amenities include a gymnasium, state-of-the-art computer
lab, cadet lounge and office, and organization rooms.
