ROTC Cadets perform a Saber Arch every year during halftime at the Homecoming Football game. ROTC cadets also perform a Color Guard and a military vehicle display during the Homecoming Parade every year in October.

Teaching The Leaders Of Tomorrow

The Army ROTC program has been offered at Tarleton State University since 1918. Today, the Texan Battalion has approximately 95 students enrolled in ROTC courses. The ROTC courses are offered both at the Main Campus in Stephenville, TX and at the Central-Texas campus in Killeen, TX. The Texan Battalion at Tarleton State University was awarded The MacArthur Award in 2003-2004 as one of the best Senior ROTC programs in the nation.

Battalion History
The history of military training at Tarleton can trace its beginning all the way back to the formation of Tarleton College in 1890. All male students at Tarleton College were required to wear military uniforms and participate in military training. All students at the university were referred to as “cadets” during these early years. Join the tradition of Army ROTC at Tarleton State University.
