ROTC Offers Many Opportunities to Excel
In Army ROTC, it's not all classroom and field training. There are many opportunities
for you to get to know your fellow cadets better and increase your skills in a variety
of areas. Learn more about these events and activities below.

Ranger Challenge
The Ranger Challenge is an opportunity for schools to "compete" with each other
completing military tasks. In addition to a written examination where Cadets
test their Army knowledge, there are physical fitness drills and field exercises.
Battalions leave a Ranger Challenge with stronger bonds and sharper skills.

Pershing Rifles
The National Society of Pershing Rifles gives Army ROTC Cadets the opportunity
to develop to the highest degree possible. Cadets can take part in precision
trick rifle drill teams that provide them with the outstanding traits of
leadership, military bearing and discipline.

Airborne and Air Assault Opportunities
As a Saluki Cadet, you will have the opportunity to compete for slots to various Army Schools. These opportunities typically occur after the sophomore or junior school year. Saluki Cadets have attended Airborne, Air Assault, Mountain Warfare, and overseas training with British Soldiers.

Dining In
Each fall the Battalion holds a Dining In. This is an Army tradition in which only the members of the Battalion attend. There is good food, entertainment, and everyone goes home with more stories to tell than when they arrived at the function. This year’s Dining In included humorous skits and karaoke.

Spring FTX
Spring FTX is held at Ft. Leonardwood, Missouri over a three day period. It is executed in conjunction with the other Colleges and Universities in our Region. Cadets are exposed to platoon sized patrolling, confidence courses, Field Leadership Reaction Courses, Basic Rifle Marksmanship, and Land Navigation. Cadets come away with more knowledge about the Army and more confidence in their abilities.
