LTC Sarah M. Small
Professor of Military Science
Lieutenant Colonel Sarah M. Small assumed duties as the Professor of Military Science of Saint Augustine’s College in Raleigh, North Carolina on 1 June 2009, with partnership schools at Shaw University, North Carolina Wesleyan College and Peace College. LTC Small was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Transportation Corps in December 1990.
LTC Small holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from North Carolina State University and a Masters of Science in Human Resource Management from Troy University. Her military education includes the Transportation Officer’s Basic and Advanced Course, Command and General Staff College and the Army Force Management School.
Prior to her current assignment, LTC Small served in a variety of staff assignments, most recently as the Chief, Transportation Division, Force Development Directorate, United States Army Combined Arms Support Command, Fort Lee, Virginia. From July 2007 to July 20008, She served as the Support Operations Officer for the 35th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, Osan Air Base, Korea. She served as the 181st Transportation Battalion’s S3 and Executive Officer, based in Manheim, Germany, from July 2004 to June 2006 and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from October 2005 to June 2006. She also deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in October 2003 to March 2004 as the Transportation Officer of the Support Operations Office of the 7th Corps Support Group, Bamberg, Germany. Prior to that LTC Small served as the S1 of 69th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, Giebelstadt Germany from July 2002 to July 2003. LTC served as a staff officer in the Force Projection and Distribution Directorate of the Headquarters Department of the Army, Deputy Chief of Staff, G-4 from July 2001 to June 2002 and was at the Pentagon when it was attacked by terrorists at 0932 on September 11, 2001.
LTC Small’s key Army staff positions include commander, 8th Transportation Company, Fort Eustis, Virginia; Terminal Operations Officer, 10th Transportation Battalion, Fort Eustis, Virginia; Assistant Professor of Military Science, Hampton University; Hampton, Virginia; Logistics Officer for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in support of Operation Provide Promise, Former Republic of Yugoslavia; various battalion level and command positions with 24th Transportation Battalion, Manheim, Germany and a Petroleum and Medium Truck Platoon Leader in the Alpha and Bravo Companies of the 702nd Main Support Battalion of the Second Infantry Division, Camp Casey, Korea.
Among LTC Small’s awards and decorations are the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the National Defense Service Medal, The Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service and Expeditionary Medals, Kuwaiti Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, Parachutist badge and the Army Staff Badge.

MSG George J. Allen
Assistant Professor of Military Science
MSG Allen is a native of Philadelphia Pennsylvania; he enlisted in the United States Army under the Delayed Entry Program in October of 1988. He enlisted in the army as a Field Artillery Cannoneer at Fort Sill, Oklahoma where he did One Station Unit Training (OSUT). After graduating MSG Allen arrived at Fort Lewis, Washington assigned to 1-84th FAR, 9th ID (LIGHT) where he served as an Advance Party man and #3 cannoneer. MSG Allen served at many duty stations such as 3 Tours in Germany, 3rd ID 6-41FA, Kitzingen, 1AD 2-3FA, Kirchgoens and 7th ATC Hohenfels. He also served at Fort Ord, California where he was a part of 7-15FAR 7ID (LIGHT), Fort Drum, New York 2-15FAR 10th Mountain DIV (LIGHT) and Fort Riley, Kansas 2-32FAR 1ID. He is currently serving as the Senior Military Instructor (SMI) of Saint Augustine’s College ROTC.
MSG Allen has performed various positions within his MOS from Cannon Crew Member, Gunner, Ammunition Team Chief, Howitzer Section Chief, Gunnery Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, Master Gunner, Operations Sergeant and Operations NCOIC. He also performed duties as an Air Assault Instructor, Rappel Master Instructor, Master Fitness Trainer and an Observer Controller. He is also a member of both the prestigious Audie Murphy and Sergeant Morales Club and he is a member of the highly coveted Field Artillery Saint Barbara.
MSG Allen received his associates degree in general studies and have completed every NCOES required for his level, some additional schools that MSG Allen has completed is Airborne School, Air Assault School, Master Fitness, Battle Staff, Rappel Master, Total Army Instructor Training Course and the Army’s Drug and Alcohol Course.
MSG Allen was involved in 4 deployments consisting of Desert Shield/Desert Storm, IFOR Bosnia, OEF and OIF. He received numerous awards and decorations throughout his 21 years of Active Service. MSG Allen currently resides in North Carolina.
