LTC Ken Patterson, Signal Corps

Battalion Commander, Professor of Military Science, MS IV Instructor

LTC Patterson joined the Scarlet Knight Battalion in 2008.  His previous assignments include Germany, Fort Bragg, Hawaii, and Fort Hood.  He has deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom two times, participating in the OIF II and OIF 06-08 rotations.  LTC Patterson can be contacted by email at ROTCPMS@rci.rutgers.edu








CPT Michele Blachowske, Finance Corps

Assistant Professor Of Military Science / Executive Officer, MS I Instructor

CPT Blachowski joined the Scarlet Knight Battalion in 2008.  She has been a member of the New Jersey National Guard for the last 13 years and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II in 2004. 








CPT Edzel Butac, Air Defense Artillery

Assistant Professor Of Military Science / Recruiting Operations Officer

CPT Butac joined the Scarlet Knight Battalion in 2007.  He has a total of 10 years of Military service and has served in Germany, Korea, and Israel.  If you are interested in ROTC and would like more information on scholarships that we offer you can contact CPT Butac on email at ebutac@rci.rutgers.edu








CPT Doug Larsen, Air Defense Artillery

Assistant Professor of Military Science, MS II Instructor

CPT Larsen joined the Scarlet Knight Battalion in 2008 after completing a year long MiTT assignment in Iraq.








CPT Jim Dobis, Infantry, COMTEK

Assistant Professor of Military Science, MS III Instructor

CPT Dobis joined the Scarlet Knight Battalion in 2008.  He recently returned from Iraq where he served as an Infantry Platoon Leader with the 2nd ID.








MSG Chris Smith, Infantry

Senior Military Science Instructor, MS IV Instructor

MSG Smith joined the Scarlet Knight Battalion in 2008.  He recently returned from deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  He also has a one year deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan. 








SFC Ken McNulty, Infantry

Training NCO, MS III Instructor

SFC McNulty joined the Scarlet Knight Battalion in 2007.  He has 3 combat tours, one with the 7th ID in support of Operation Just Cause in 1989 in Panama, and two deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 101st  Airborne.








SGT Rich Wiegers

New Jersey National Guard Liaison and Recruiting NCO

SGT Wiegers is a New Jersey National Guard Recruiter that works in the ROTC building.  The Rutgers ROTC Program enjoys a great relationship with the National Guard, and the financial benefits they have to offer sometimes exceed those of a Cadet Command scholarship.  If you are interested in Joining the New Jersey National Guard and participating in the ROTC program under the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) please contact SGT Wiegers at Richard.wiegers@us.army.mil








Mrs. Gail Lawrence

University Representative / Principle Secretary

Mrs. Lawrence joined the Scarlet Knight Battalion in 1998 and works to provide all of the critical help and guidance to our cadets as they negotiate college life.








Mr. Tom Medelson

Administrative Assistant, COMTEK

Mr. Mendelson joined the Scarlet Knight Battalion in 2006 as a COMTEK employee.  He is also a First Sergeant in the retired reserves, and here at Rutgers he works with the Recruiting Officer to process scholarships and enrollment in the ROTC program here at Rutgers.








Mrs. Lisa Noel

Human Resources Assistant

Mrs. Noel joined the Scarlet Knight Battalion in 2008, and works to provide assistance to the cadets in managing their training and scheduling.








Mr. Bill Braxton

Supply Tech

Mr. Braxton joined the Scarlet Knight Battalion in 2008.  He has been in Cadet Command for the last 7 years, and is also a Warrant Officer in the New Jersey National Guard
