ROTC Offers Many Opportunities to Excel
In Army ROTC, it's not all classroom and field training. There are many opportunities
for you to get to know your fellow cadets better and increase your skills in a variety
of areas. Learn more about these events and activities below.

Ranger Challenge
The Ranger Challenge is an opportunity for schools to "compete" with each other
completing military tasks. In addition to a written examination where Cadets
test their Army knowledge, there are physical fitness drills and field exercises.
Battalions leave a Ranger Challenge with stronger bonds and sharper skills.

Pershing Rifles
The National Society of Pershing Rifles gives Army ROTC Cadets the opportunity
to develop to the highest degree possible. Cadets can take part in precision
trick rifle drill teams that provide them with the outstanding traits of
leadership, military bearing and discipline.

Queen’s Guard
The Rutger’s Queen’s Guard is a Drill And Ceremony organization with a long
and distinguished history. At it’s peak it was nationally ranked in Drill
Competition and performed trick drill exhibitions overseas in Scotland and
London. The organization is run by Scarlet Knight Cadets and performs
Honor Guard Ceremonies at Rutger’s sporting events, NJ Nets games, New
Brunswick Veteran’s Day Parades and ROTC functions.

Ranger Challenge and Ranger Club
The Scarlet Knight Ranger Organization fields a team every Fall to compete
in the Brigade Ranger Challenge Competition against 18 other schools in the
region. Events include: a physical fitness test, obstacle course, land
navigation course, engagement skills trainer, rope bridge, weapons assembly,
patrolling exam and 12 mile ruck march. The Ranger Club organizes
additional training events for Cadets interested in Infantry tactics,
techniques and procedures.

Commissioning Ceremony
Every Spring the Battalion holds a formal Commissioning ceremony where
graduates take the Oath and have their 2nd Lieutenant Rank pinned
on. This is a time honored tradition where Cadets are initiated into
distinguished lineage and heritage of the United States Army Officer Corps.
