Graduates of the 2000s

1LT Justin Lock (’08) initially served as a Gold Bar at NIU.  He has since completed BOLC II and moved on to Flight School at Fort Rucker.  LT Lock completed his first flight in DEC 08 and he reports that it included a terrifying five second hover…we’re sure his flying skills will progress.  (as of JAN 2009)
1LT Andrea Bontrager  (’08??) is assigned to the 299th BSB, 2 HBCT, 1ID  and is currently deployed to Camp Liberty, Baghdad, Iraq.  She is working in the Special Projects Office (SPO) as the medical logistics officer and contracting representative.  LT Bontrager often rotates as a convoy commander and works with the Brigade Surgeon on various medical missions.  (as of JAN 2009)
1LT Todd Gross (‘06) is reportedly (second hand) assigned to the 4th Infantry Division.  (as of JAN 2009)
1LT Carlos Pacheco (’06) is currently serving with the 3625th Maintenance Company (ILARNG) in North Riverside, IL.  (as of JAN 2009)
CPT Helen Lilly (‘05) is currently commanding a Forward Support Medical Company in 2nd Brigade Combat Team (BCT), 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC.  She spent 32 months in other assignments in the Division before taking command.  (as of JAN 2009)
CPT Peter Syverson (‘05) is assigned as Assistant S3 for 5th Squadron, 1st US Cavalry Regiment, 1st Stryker BCT, 25th Infantry Division at Fort Wainwright, AK.  He deployed to Forward Operating Base (FOB) Caldwell, Iraq (Diyala Province) in SEP 08, and recently completed 23 months as a rifle / recon platoon leader.  (as of JAN 2009)
1LT Matt Einhorn (‘05) is deployed to Northern Iraq with the 16th Sustainment Brigade out of Bamberg, Germany.  (as of JAN 2009)
CPT Sebastian Lemus (’05) completed Signal OBC at Fort Gordon, GA and was stationed at Fort Hood, TX with 3rd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division "GreyWolf". He deployed to FOB Warhorse in Iraq in support of OIF 06-08.  CPT Lemus has since separated from active duty and is now serving as the S6 for the 108th MMB (ILARNG) in North Riverside, IL.  (as of JAN 2009)
CPT Michael Moyers (’05)  has been assigned to the 4th Brigade, 10th Mountain Division at Fort Polk, LA since NOV 05, and has deployed to both Afghanistan and Iraq as the Medical Officer for 2nd Battalion, 30th Infantry.  He and his family will move to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Kaiserslautern, Germany this summer where he will assume duties as the XO for the DENTAC.  (as of JAN 2009)
CPT Kara Loving (‘0?) recently left active duty after serving with the 22nd Signal Brigade in Darmstadt, Germany.  (as of JAN 2009)
CPT Moses Lee (’01) recently redeployed from Iraq where he served on a Military Transition Team (MiTT), and is currently assigned as the S3 of the 35th CSSB, 10th Sustainment Group in Sagami Depot, Japan.  CPT Lee and his wife June recently welcomed their first child, Eileen, 9 months.  (as of JAN 2009)








Graduates of the 1980s

Todd Nelson (’86) served as an Armor officer on Active Duty for four years at Fort Polk, LA.  For the last 18 years, he has been an administrator with the Federal Bureau of Prisons.  Todd was the number two ranked Heavyweight boxer in East Texas in 2001.  He has been married for 21 years and has two children, ages 13 and 15.  (as of JAN 2009)
LTC (R) Dan Carpenter (’85) retired this year after 22 years of service.  His final assignment was Professor of Military Science at Purdue University.  Dan remained at Purdue after retiring and has transitioned to work in student orientation.  (as of JAN 2009)
COL Beth Anne Liechti-Johnson (’81) will retire in the spring after 28 years in the Army (20 active and 8 reserve).  She was promoted to COL in MAY 05 and as far as we know she is the first female NIU commissionee to reach that rank.  COL Leichti-Johnson’s final assignment was in the Pentagon.  (as of JAN 2009)
