LTC Garrison

Professor or Military Science

LTC Garrison graduated from Towson University in Baltimore, MD in 1988 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Ordnance Corps from the Loyola ROTC program. He received a Masters in Logistics in 1998 from the Florida Institute of Technology and is a graduate of the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

LTC Garrison spent his Lieutenant years at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, serving as a Platoon Leader during Operation Desert Storm, a Brigade Readiness Officer and Shop Officer in the XVIII Airborne Corps, Dragon Brigade and the 1st Corps Support Command.

LTC Garrison’s Captain years were spent in Karlsruhe Germany, Kirkrad, Netherlands, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama and Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. During these tours he served as Company Commander of a Combat Equipment Company supporting operations in Rwanda and Bosnia; Battalion Maintenance Officer; Group Operations Officer, Aide de Camp to the Commanding General MICOM; and Instructor / TAC Officer at the Ordnance Center and School.

He was promoted to Major at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland and finished his tour there as the Maintenance and Supply Division Chief and Battalion Executive Officer of the 143rd Ordnance Battalion. 

After Attending the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, he was assigned as the Logistics Officer (S-4) for the 10th Special Forces Group at Fort Carson, Colorado. During that tour, he served as the deputy J-4 for the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force- North (CJSOTF-N) planning and executing  logistics support for the CJSOTF spread across Germany, Romania and Northern Iraq for OIF-I.

He also severed as the J-4 for the Combined Joint Special Operations task Force – Arabian Peninsula (CJSOTF-AP) in Baghdad Iraq, planning and executing logistic operations for Theater Special Operations Forces during OIF-II. 

LTC Garrison served as the 11th ROTC Brigade Executive Officer at Fort Carson, Colorado and the Command and Staff Director at the Ordnance Center and School at APG, Md.

His Awards and decorations include 2 Bronze Star Medals, 5 Meritorious Service Medals, 2 Army Commendation Medals, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Meritorious Unit Commendation, 2 National Defense Service Medals, the Southwest Asia Service Medal (3 bronze campaign stars), the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal , the Army Service Ribbon,  2 Overseas Service Ribbons, the Kuwait Liberation Medal, the Saudi Arabia Kuwait Liberation Medal and the Basic Parachutist Badge.








MAJ Typhair

Assistant Professor of Military Science

Major Typhair first enlisted in the US Army in November, 1987 as a 52D, Power Generation Equipment Repairman and upon completion of his training at Fort Belvoir, VA was stationed with the 3/5th Field Artillery Battalion in Nurnberg, Germany. Upon completion of his tour in February, 1992, he was assigned to the 502nd Corps Support Battalion at Fort Polk, LA. The unit moved to Fort Hood, TX in September, 1992 where he served until taking a break in service in October, 1993. He returned to military life in March, 1995 with a new Military Occupational Specialty as a 63B, Light Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic. Upon the completion of his training at Fort Jackson, SC, he was stationed at Fort Sill, OK with the 514th Field Artillery Battalion. Captain Typhair pursued his interest in furthering his education at Cameron University, in Lawton, OK where he learned about and enrolled in the ROTC program.

Major Typhair was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in March, 1998 and resumed immediate active duty as an Ordnance Officer. Upon completion of his Officer Basic Course at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MA, he was stationed at Fort Drum, NY where he served as a Maintenance Platoon Leader with B/710th Main Support Battalion. Major Typhair also served as the Maintenance Control Officer with the 710th MSB before moving to the Headquarters, 1st Infantry Brigade where he served two years as the Assistant S4/Budget Officer. During his time with the 1st Infantry Brigade, he deployed in October, 2001 where he served as the G4 Rear Liaison Officer at Camp Able Sentry, Macedonia and as a Escort Officer with the Joint Visitor's Bureau at Camp Bond Steele, Kosovo. Upon his return from his seven month Kosovo deployment, Major Typhair attended the Combined Logistics Captain's Career Coarse at Fort Lee, VA and Combined Arms Services Staff School at Fort Leavenworth, KS. Upon his completion in February, 2003, he was reassigned to Fort Drum, NY to the Division Material Management Center as a Maintenance Management Officer. Major Typhair was later attached to the 10th Forward Support Battalion and deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan in September, 2003 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom IV; where he served nine months as the General Supplies Officer, and also managed the Acquisition Cross-Servicing Agreement with several coalition forces.

Soon after Major Typhair's return from Afghanistan, he took command of Bravo Company, 10th Forward Support Battalion in August, 2004 and lead them through the Army Transformation reassigning them as the 10th Brigade Support Battalion. After preparing and training for one year, Major Typhair and his unit deployed to Iraq in August, 2005 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 05-07. He conducted numerous missions in support of the Iraqi Referendum and Free Elections and returned home with all his Soldiers in July, 2006. He relinquished his command in November, 2006 and reported to Loyola College in Maryland, Army ROTC in December, 2006.








MSG Shepherd

Senior Military Instructor

MSG Shepherd graduated from Basic Training at Fort Knox, Kentucky in 1985 as an Armor Crewmember.  Upon completion he served his first tour with HHC 194th Armored Brigade where he served in positions of S-3 staff, Tank Driver, Tank Gunner and Tank Commander. In 1991 he was assigned the Recruiting Command where he served in the Great lakes Battalion in Ann Arbor Michigan.  After his tour with Recruiting Command in 1994 he was assigned to I Troop 3rd Squadron 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment at Fort Bliss Texas where he served at Tank Commander, Company Master Gunner, and Platoon Sergeant. In 1995 he moved with the Regiment to Fort Carson Colorado where he continued to serve as a Platoon Sergeant/ Troop Master Gunner.  In 1999 he was assigned to 1st Battalion (TS), 310th Regiment, Fort Bragg North Carolina.  He served as an Observer Controller, S-3 NCOIC, and on Brigade S-3 Staff.  In 2003 he was assigned to 1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team, Camp Casey Korea where is served as the Brigade Tank Master Gunner and Ammunition NCO.  Later the year he became the First Sergeant of Delta Company 2nd Battalion, 9th Infantry Battalion.  In 2005 he was selected to become the First Sergeant of Headquarters and Headquarters Company 2nd Battalion 9th Infantry.  In 2006 he was assigned to Loyola College / Towson University as the Senior Military instructor where he currently resides at this time.

MSG Shepherd personal and unit decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), the Army Commendations medal (4 awards), the Army Achievement Medal (4 awards), the Army Good Conduct Medal (6 awards), National Defense Service Medal ( 2 awards), Korean Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon, Global War on Terror Ribbon.  He was also awarded the Airborne and Recruiter qualified.








Mr. Williams

Supply Tech

Mr. Williams is the Supply Tech (PBO) for this Battalion; he has been here at Loyola College in MD sends November 1988. He entered the DOD civil service in 1984 after 4 yrs active duty as Unit Supply Specialist. Mr. Williams came to Loyola from Ft. Meade DOC, where he worked in the small purchase section.

Mr. Williams has a wife and four sons.








Mr. Alexander

HRA

Staff Sergeant (ret) Alexander went into the U.S. States Army September 13, 1977 where he did his Basic Combat Training (BCT) at Ft Knox, KY and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Ft Benjamin Harrison, IN until February 1978.

Private Alexander served his two tours in Germany (FROG) and three duty stations in the states. He served as a SIDPERS Administrative Clerk in the Personnel Admin Center (PAC). He served as the Detachment Admin Clerk. He served as the Battalion Mail Clerk where he received the highest rating for a postal inspection in the European Command. He served there as the Personnel Administrative Non Commissioned Officer (PSNCO). SGT Alexander Estimated Time of Service (ETS) on active duty ended in July 1985 and he went into the US Army Reserves (USAR). He served in Baltimore, Maryland as an Administrative Clerk, Attendance Clerk and Personnel Supervisor. SGT Alexander was promoted to SSG from the 4215th Army Hospital and went to Ft Meade, MD and work as the PSNCO for 1 year. SSG Alexander retired November 2001.

Staff Sergeant Alexander’s personal and unit decorations are ARCOMs (2), AAMs, GCD(2), ARCAM, NCO Ribbon, Oversea Ribbon.

Mr. Alexander took the Civil Service Exam in Baltimore, MD and was hired in December 1986 and worked for Military Traffic Management Command Eastern Area (MTMCEA) Bayonne, New Jersey w/duty at the Port of Baltimore, Dundalk, MD from December 1986 until November 1995. He worked as a Shipment Clerk and a Transportation Assistant. He received the MTMCEA (Command) Employee of the Quarters for Outstanding Accomplishments and Performance 1 July 1992 thru 30 September 1992. Mr. Alexander left MTMCEA due to downsizing in November 1995.

Mr. Alexander applied for jobs through Civilian Personnel Office Bayonne, NJ Civilian Personnel Office). He was hired at Loyola College in Maryland, Military Science Department, Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (ROTC) Baltimore, MD 21210 November 1995 to present. He was hired as the Military Personnel Records Clerk. He presently serves as the Human Resources Assistant.

Mr. Alexander, Jr. is married and has three children and two grandsons
