| Howard University 14th Annual ROTC Day. |
| Eleven High Schools gathered at Howard University’s Greene Memorial Stadium on October 17 2007 for the 14th Annual ROTC day. Hosted by the Army and Air Force ROTC, JROTC units from the national capital region competed in a drill competition. Each school fielded a 13 person drill team. They were evaluated on two areas. A uniform inspection conducted by Senior ROTC Cadets and an established drill format evaluated by the United States Army Drill Team. The guest speaker for the event was CSM Hershel Turner, the United States Army Cadet Command, Command Sergeant Major. No stranger to the Bison Battalion, CSM Turner spoke from the heart to the JROTC Cadets emphasizing the importance of education and their future. CSM Turner was quite impressed with the talented performance of the JROTC Cadets. Although the field was dominated by Air Force JROTC, but Forestville Military Academy Army JROTC drill team took First Place. Congratulations! We would like to thank, SFC Thompson, the Drill Master and the entire US Army Drill Team for a magnificent performance to end the event and the entire Cadet Corps from the Army and Air Force for their hard work and support. Special thanks to the George Washington Chapter of AUSA for sponsoring the event and the continuing support. |
