Cadets after a race
Pine Mountain 40-Mile
Cadets learn to face challenges so often in ROTC that many, such as Cadets Daniel Enyart, Alex Abt, and Lacey Enyart, have learned to actively seek out challenges, such as a recent 40-mile trail run. Other participants not pictured here are CDT Jesse Toscano and 2LT Jonathon Janos.
“Though not always easy, the training that I have received from this program has allowed me to become not only a better leader and soldier, but an all-around better person. ROTC has provided me with a number of challenges on my road to commissioning, but I know that I am well-trained and capable of accomplishing the task at hand. In times of stress, both Cadre and fellow Cadets willingly lend a hand to all Cadets to ensure that no officer from our battalion can fail.”

Stand Out From The Rest

See how interesting college can be when you're a part of Army ROTC. You'll be a college student first and foremost, just like the rest of the student body, but there's a key difference: you'll have even more opportunities to succeed.

These opportunities include Field Training Exercises (FTXs) in the spring and fall where Cadets build their teamwork and leadership skills. Cadets also participate in Physical Training (PT) on a regular basis to keep up their strength and endurance.

In addition, each battalion has its own unique calendar of events and activities.

Life as a Panther

As a Cadet in this battalion, you will be a member of one of the hardest working, most dedicated organizations on the Georgia State campus, as well as those of our sister schools: Spellman College, Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta, Clayton State, and the Mercer University Atlanta Campus.  While we place a great deal of focus on hard-work and discipline, our Cadets also live normal college student lives, participating in other social and academic organizations.  Our program teaches students how to become Officers while simultaneously allowing them to enjoy some of the greatest years of their lives.

Proven Leadership

In the spring of 2009, Cadets from the ROTC program worked hand-in-hand with other students to create the Students First Party, which subsequently won the majority of seats within the GSU Student Government Association.  CDT Greg Abt, the Panther Battalion Executive Officer, currently presides as President of the SGA.

Associated Colleges and Universities

The Panther Battalion extends further than just Georgia State.  Students from Morehouse, Spellman, Clark Atlanta, Clayton State, and Mercer also participate in our program.  Recently these schools have grown in strength to allow the creation of two new companies under their own distinct leadership.  The students at these “sister schools” may not attend Georgia State, but they provide our battalion with unrivaled work ethic, leadership, and will to succeed.  Between Georgia State and our “sister schools,” the Panther Battalion is truly one of the most exceptional programs in the nation.
