LTC Goodman
Professor of Military Science
LTC Goodman is a Signal Corps Branch officer and currently serves as the Professor of Military Science and Primary Instructor for seniors enrolled in the ROTC program. LTC Goodman most recently served as Chief, Instructional Systems Design at the US Army Command and General Staff College, Ft. Leavenworth, KS and in Operation Enduring Freedom as a Police Mentor Team Chief while assigned to the 1st Infantry Division in the 209th Corps, Faryab Province, Afghanistan. LTC Goodman received a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Master in Science Information Technology Management. LTC Goodman’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Parachutist Badge, and Drill Sergeant Identification Badge.

LTC Swift
Assistant Professor of Military Science, Executive Officer
LTC Swift is a 36-year Army veteran who has served in Viet Nam and Operation Noble Eagle. His assignments include two years of active duty, twenty-eight years with the PAARNG and six years with the USAR. He is currently assigned as the Executive Officer and Assistant Professor of Military Science for the “Pride of Pennsylvania” ROTC Battalion. LTC Swift was prior service enlisted before receiving his commission through PAARNG OCS. He has held leadership positions ranging from squad leader through Deputy G7 for Training. He recently completed a two year mobilization with the 99th Regional Readiness Command in G7 Training, preparing USAR Soldiers for deployment in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom missions. LTC Swift has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. He holds a Bachelors of Science Degree and a Masters of Science Degree in Education from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. He currently serves as the Military Science Instructor for Sophomores enrolled in the ROTC program and the unit's Executive Officer.

MAJ Dunlavey
Recruiting Operations Officer
MAJ Dunlavey is an 18 year active duty Army Reserve Officer now currently assigned as the Recruiting Operations Officer and Operations and Training Officer for the Pride of Pennsylvania ROTC Battalion. His experience in various positions range from Armor Platoon Leader, Armor Company Executive Officer, Cavalry Troop Commander, Armor Battalion Intelligence Officer to his most recent position as the Battalion Commander for a Resident Training Battalion supporting the 3-116th Armor Battalion in Lagrande, OR and Ft Carson, CO. MAJ Dunlavey’s awards and decorations include the Army Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Award, and Airborne Parachutists Badge. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the University of Notre Dame. He is an avid rock climber, mountain biker and skier.

CPT Patterson
Military Science Instructor
CPT Patterson is a retired Armor Officer from the Ohio Army National Guard. He served both in an active duty role & in a reserve component role. His experience includes enlisted & officer service for over 20 years. His position experiences range from Armor Platoon Leader, Detachment Commander of a Support Platoon, Executive Officer, Armor Battalion Maintenance Officer, TAC Officer for a state OCS program, to his most recent position as the Recruiting Operations Officer for Edinboro University of Pennsylvania’s ROTC Battalion. CPT Patterson is a two time combat veteran serving in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iraq. CPT Patterson’s awards include Meritorious Service Medal, Army Accommodation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, South West Asia Medal, Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, German Armed Forces Proficiency badge (bronze), and Combat Action Badge. Some of CPT Patterson’s military education includes the Armor Captain’s Career Course, the Army Instructor Trainer Course (TAITC), the Tactics Certification Course (TCC), and the TAC Officer Training Course (TTOC). CPT Patterson completed a B.S. degree from the Ohio State University with a strong focus in Family Resource Management, Consumer Affairs, Marketing, and Business related courses. His civilian experience includes executive recruiter, with strong customer service skills, direct sales, telephone sales background, underground gas line utilities excavation, road construction, and manufacturing. He is currently assigned as the Military Science Instructor & OIC of Mercyhurst College. He is the primary instructor for freshmen and sophomores at Mercyhurst College.

2LT Piccini
Assistant Instructor of Military Science / Assistant Ranger Challenge Coach
2LT Michael Piccini is a 2009 graduate of Mercyhurst College and is currently serving as an Assistant Instructor of Military Science as well as the Assistant Ranger Challenge coach. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Intelligence Studies in which he graduated Summa Cum-Laude. While in ROTC he completed Airborne School, Air Assault School and interned with the National Ground Intelligence Center in Charlottesville, Virginia. 2LT Piccini is a Distinguished Military Graduate branched Infantry and will be stationed at Fort Brag, North Carolina home of the 82nd Airborne Division “All Americans” upon completion of BOLC B.

2LT Piechocki
Assistant Instructor of Military Science
2LT Daniel Piechocki is a 2009 graduate of Mercyhurst College and is currently serving as an Assistant Instructor of Military Science. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Intelligence Studies. While in ROTC he completed Airborne School and interned with the National Ground Intelligence Center in Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland. 2LT Piechocki is a Distinguished Military Graduate branched Aviation and will be attending Flight School at Fort Rucker, Alabama.

MSG McCarthy
Senior Military Instructor
MSG McCarthy is a 24 year active duty Army combat veteran. His experience in various positions throughout Special Forces range from Senior Medical Sergeant in the ODA 182 Mountain Detachment to serving as Team Sergeant on a Maritime Operations at 1st Bn, 1st SFG(A) Okinawa, Japan. MSG McCarthy’s deployment experience throughout Southeast Asia includes; Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, and Nepal. MSG McCarthy’s awards and decorations include Airborne, Combat and Expert Infantry badges, Combat Medical Badge, Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Army Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Army Achievement Award. He holds a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Health Care Administration from Baker College in Michigan and a Paramedic certification. He currently serves as the Military Science Instructor for juniors enrolled in the ROTC program.

MSG Rand
Military Science Instructor
MSG Rand served for over 21 years as a military policeman in the United States Army. During his career he held numerous positions within the Military Police Corps, including First Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, Drill Sergeant and Instructor at the Military Police School. MSG Rand’s military education includes the Battle Staff NCO Course, First Sergeant Course, Drill Sergeant School and Air Assault School. His duty assignments include tours in Germany, Korea and various CONUS assignments. MSG Rand’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army of Occupation Medal (Berlin), Kosovo Campaign Medal, GWOT Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal and the German Schutzenschnur (Silver). MSG Rand holds a Bachelors of Arts Degree in History from Penn State Behrend and an Associate of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Central Texas College in Killeen, Texas.

SFC Anderson
Military Science Instructor
SFC Anderson is a 20 year active duty combat veteran. His deployments include Panama, Sinai Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, The Republic of Georgia, and Afghanistan. He holds the MOS of 11C4. His experiences in various positions range from Platoon Sergeant, WLC instructor, Drill Sergeant, to his most recent assignment as Senior Mortar Observer Controller on the Grizzly OC team at JMRC in Hohenfels Germany. SFC Anderson’s awards and decorations include Airborne Wings, Air Assault Wings, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Drill Sergeant Badge, Bronze Star, Meritous Service Medal, Army Accommodation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Global war on Terror Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and NATO Medal. He currently serves as the Military Science Instructor for freshman enrolled in the ROTC program.

Mrs. Dugan
Human Resources Assistant
Ms. Dugan is a Military Human Resource Assistant who has worked for the Pride of Pennsylvania ROTC Battalion for the past ten years. The Battalion consists of the host school at Gannon University with partnership schools at Penn State Erie – the Behrend College and Mercyhurst College. Prior to working for the Department of the Army, Sharon worked in the President’s Office at Gannon University and as a Program Coordinator for the Masters Program at Troy State University. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Edinboro University and a Masters of Science degree in Management from Troy State University. Sharon is currently working on her Master’s Certificate in Human Resources.

Mrs. Giannamore
Human Resources Assistant
Ms. Giannamore is a civilian Gannon University administrative support staff. Her responsibilities are split between the ROTC Military Science department and the Organizational Learning and Leadership Doctoral program. Prior to coming to Gannon, Nancy developed a 15-year track record in administration/management with a consistent history of driving efficiency improvements to office systems, workflows and processes. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Mercyhurst College and an Associate in Specialized Business degree in Computer Information Systems. Nancy and her husband Joe have six children including a son serving in the 82nd Airborne and a daughter serving in the 542nd Army Reserve unit.

Mr. Burwell
Logisitics Technician
Mr. Burwell is a retired Army Non-Commissioned Officer with 22-years of experience and is currently assigned as a supply technician for the Pride of PA Battalion. He has held positions ranging from being a U.S. Marine mortar Crewman (0341MOS) to a Section Sergeant in a U.S. Army Supply section of a Rifle Company, to being a Supply Sergeant of a Headquarters and Headquarters Company. Mr. Burwell has been awarded a few awards in his military career. He attended Edinboro University and is currently attending Gannon University to complete a BS in Social Work.
