Events and Activities

ROTC Offers Many Opportunities to Excel

In Army ROTC, it's not all classroom and field training. There are many opportunities for you to get to know your fellow cadets better and increase your skills in a variety of areas. Learn more about these events and activities below.

Ranger Challenge

The Ranger Challenge is an opportunity for schools to "compete" with each other completing military tasks. In addition to a written examination where Cadets test their Army knowledge, there are physical fitness drills and field exercises. Battalions leave a Ranger Challenge with stronger bonds and sharper skills.

Pershing Rifles

The National Society of Pershing Rifles gives Army ROTC Cadets the opportunity to develop to the highest degree possible. Cadets can take part in precision trick rifle drill teams that provide them with the outstanding traits of leadership, military bearing and discipline.

Freshman Convocation Ceremony

Each fall the color guard participates in the convocation ceremony to being the new school year.

Ranger Challenge

Each fall the Battalion participates along with 19 other schools in Ranger Challenge.  Ranger Challenge is a military competition that pits the best from each school against one another in a variety of military related activities.

Spring Joint Field Training Exercise

In the Spring, the Battalion ventures to Fort Drum, NY to conduct a 72-hour FTX.  Students enjoy participating in  land navigation, rappelling, obstacle course, Situational Training Exercises (STX), and visiting a local Army unit.

Awards Ceremony

Each Spring the ROTC Program has the pleasure of hosting an awards ceremony to recognize the oustanding accomplishments of our students.  Both national and local organizations participate in the ceremony and support our fine students.

Commissioning Ceremony

In both the Fall and Spring, the Battalion conducts a commissioning ceremony.  During the ceremony, graduating cadets are administered the oath of office and are promoted to the rank of Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army,
