| As a competitive person, Ranger Challenge gave me and my team an outlet to push ourselves beyond our emotional and physical boundaries while competing against some of the best Cadets in the region. Training was tough and challenging, but the skills gained and friendships forged will last a lifetime. |

ROTC Offers Many Opportunities to Excel
In Army ROTC, it's not all classroom and field training. There are many opportunities
for you to get to know your fellow cadets better and increase your skills in a variety
of areas. Learn more about these events and activities below.

Ranger Challenge
The Ranger Challenge is an opportunity for schools to "compete" with each other
completing military tasks. In addition to a written examination where Cadets
test their Army knowledge, there are physical fitness drills and field exercises.
Battalions leave a Ranger Challenge with stronger bonds and sharper skills.

Pershing Rifles
The National Society of Pershing Rifles gives Army ROTC Cadets the opportunity
to develop to the highest degree possible. Cadets can take part in precision
trick rifle drill teams that provide them with the outstanding traits of
leadership, military bearing and discipline.

Campus Support
The Cadets of ROTC provide a great deal
of support to the campus and surrounding community. Events include Color
Guards for sporting events, traffic control for campus events, the Homecoming
Parade and the University Presidents Veterans Day Ceremony. These events
give the Cadets opportunities to meet new people and work with the different
groups and organizations around campus.

Commissioning Ceremony
Each winter and spring Cadets who meet
the qualifications are commissioned as officers in the United States Army at
the historic Diebold Center of Edinboro University. The Diebold Center is
the third oldest building on the campus and was constructed in 1906. During
World War II, it was a barracks for marshalling troops and, after the war, a
facility for quartering returning servicemen. A fitting location for
family, friends, faculty and staff, distinguished guests and the university
president to gather to witness our cadets taking the Oath of Office and making
the final transition to officers for our nations Army.
