LTC Mark Turner

Professor of Military Science

Lieutenant Colonel Mark P. Turner is a native of Wichita, Kansas.  He entered active duty in 1984 as an ROTC Distinguished Military Graduate from Arizona State University and was commissioned a second lieutenant of armor.  His first duty assignment was in Korea as a platoon leader and support platoon leader in 4th Squadron, 7th Cavalry, 2nd Infantry Division.  In 1985 he was assigned to Fort Lewis where he served as a mortar platoon leader, troop executive officer, and S-3 (Air) in 3rd Squadron, 5th Cavalry, later re-designated 1st Squadron, 9th Cavalry, 9th Infantry Division.  LTC Turner then moved to Kitzigen, Germany where he served as an adjutant and company commander in 3rd Battalion, 63rd Armor, later re-designated 4th Battalion, 69th Armor, 3rd Infantry Division.  Following company command LTC Turner served as an assistant professor of military science at the University of Southern California and in 1995 was transferred to the United States Military Academy where he served as a plans and operations officer.  In 1997 LTC Turner moved to Fort Knox, Kentucky where he served as an executive officer with 2nd Squadron, 16th Cavalry and later as the regimental S-3 in the 16th Cavalry Regiment.  LTC Turner then moved back to Korea where he served as an operations officer, Current Operations Division, J-3, United States Forces Korea.  In 2001 LTC Turner was assigned to Fort Carson, Colorado where he served as the S-3 for 2nd Brigade, 91st Division, Fifth Army.  In 2003 LTC Turner moved to Heidelberg, Germany and was assigned to United States Army Europe and Seventh Army as the Chief, Assistance and Investigations Branch, Office of the Inspector General.  He later served as the Deputy Inspector General then Acting Inspector General.  LTC Turner currently serves as the 28th Professor of Military Science at Creighton University.

LTC Turner’s professional education includes the Armor Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, CAS3, Command & General Staff College, Public Affairs Officers Course, Inspector Generals Course, Infantry Mortar Platoon Leader Course, Air Assault, Rappel Master, and Junior Officers Maintenance Officer Course.  His civilian education includes a BS in Business Management from Arizona State University and an MS in Instructional Technology from the University of Southern California.

LTC Turner’s military awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (5 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Joint Service Medal, Army Achievement Medal (4 OLC), Joint Meritorious Unit Award and Air Assault Badge. 

LTC Turner is married has two children.








MAJ Eric Hendrickson

MS I / II Instructor

Major Eric T. Hendrickson grew up in Broken Bow, Nebraska, where he enlisted in the Army Reserves in November 1989, and served with E Troop 4/302nd Cavalry in Lincoln, Nebraska.  He graduated from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln in May 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering.   His first assignment after commissioning was at Fort Riley, Kansas, where he served with the 70th Engineers as a Platoon Leader, Assistant Supply Officer, Primary Supply Officer, and Brigade Assistant Personnel Manager.

Upon completion of the Captain’s Career Course and Masters Degree Program at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, he was assigned to Fort Lewis, Washington, where he served as the Battalion Motor Officer for the 14th Engineer Battalion, MAJ Hendrickson then served on the ARCENT-Kuwait staff as a Future Operations Engineer Planner at Camp Doha, Kuwait, in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM.  Upon returning to Fort Lewis, he served as the Rear Detachment Commander for the 14th Engineer Battalion.  Following that assignment, MAJ Hendrickson took command of Headquarters, and Headquarters Company, 555 Engineer Brigade, in June 2004 at Ft Lewis Washington, where he served until June 2005.

Major Hendrickson is a graduate of the 19D (Cavalry Scout) Basic and Advanced Individual Training, Airborne School, Sapper Leaders Course, Engineer Officer Basic Course, Engineer Captain’s Career Course, and Combined Arms Service Staff School. 

Major Hendrickson's current assignment is with the Western Region, 11th Brigade ROTC, where he serves as the MS I and MS II instructor for the ROTC Department at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.

Major Hendrickson is married and has two boys.








MAJ Matthew Johnson

Major Matthew K. Johnson was born and raised in Lewiston, Idaho.  He earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY in 1997.  Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a Field Artillery officer in the United States Army.  MAJ Johnson’s first assignment was in Giessen, Germany with the 2-3 FA “Gunners” Regiment.  There he served as a Company Fire Support Officer, Platoon Leader, and Battery Executive Officer.  He also deployed to Kosovo as part of Task Force Falcon with the Gunners. 

In 2001, after completing the Field Artillery Captain’s Career Course, MAJ Johnson was assigned to Fort Campbell, KY with the 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Division.  He served with the 2-320th FA “Balls of the Eagle” Regiment in position as the Battalion Fire Direction Officer.  He then served as a Battalion Fire Support Officer for 3-327 IN.  In this capacity he deployed to both West Point and then to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom I.  While in Iraq, MAJ Johnson took command of Alpha Battery, 2-320th FA.  After the Division’s redeployment and subsequent transformation, MAJ Johnson then served as the Deputy to the Chief of the newly developed Fires and Effects Coordination Cell (FECC) on the staff of 1st Brigade “Bastogne” Unit of Action.

Major Johnson is a graduate of the Army Air Assault School, the Army Airborne School, the Army Ranger School, the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, the Field Artillery Captain’s Career Course, and the U.S. Army Combined Arms Service Staff School. 

MAJ Johnson’s current assignment is with Western Region ROTC, 11th Brigade ROTC, where he serves as the Battalion Operations Officer and Assistant Professor of Military Science (APMS) at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.

MAJ Johnson is married to the former Natalie Woodland of Lewiston, Idaho.








MAJ Dennis Murphy

Major  Dennis Murphy grew up in Norfolk,  NE.  He attended college at Creighton University in Omaha, NE.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree and was commissioned from the ROTC program there.    His first assignment after commissioning was in Germany,  where he served as a  Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer and Supply and Services Officer.  During this assignment, he deployed to both Kosovo and Macedonia in support of Operation Joint Guardian and Joint Forge.

MAJ Dennis Murphy then attended and completed the Captain’s Career Course at Fort Lee, Virginia.  He also completed a Master Degree though the University of Oklahoma.  He was then assigned as the Supply Management Officer at Fort Carson, Colorado.   MAJ Murphy then transitioned to the Army Reserves as a full time Active Guard-Reserve soldier.  His first assignment was in Fremont, NE at the Supply and Services OIC.  He also served as the Company Commander for the 922d TTP.   During the time he deployed to Kuwait where he served as the Supply Management Officer. 

Major Murphy is a graduate of the Quartermaster Basic and Advanced Courses, Airborne School,  and Support Operations Course.

Major Murphy's current assignment is with the Western Region, 11th Brigade ROTC, where he serves as the Executive Officer for the ROTC Department at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.

Major Murphy is married and has 3 children.








CPT John A. Regan

S-3

Captain John A. Regan grew up in Shenandoah, IA.  He enlisted in the Iowa Army National Guard in June 1989 and served as an Infantry with B Company, 1st Battalion, 168th Infantry.  Upon graduation of high school in 1990, CPT Regan transferred to Active Duty.  As an Enlisted Solder, CPT Regan has held every Infantry position from Rifleman to Platoon Sergeant.  He has served with 7th Battalion, 6th Infantry at Bamberg, Germany, 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry at Fort. Carson, Colorado, 2nd Battalion,  2nd Infantry at Vilseck, Germany, 1st Battalion, 16th Infantry at Fort Riley, Kansas and 1st Battalion, 50th Infantry, Infantry Training Brigade at Fort Benning, Georgia.  During this time, he had participated in Operation Desert Shield/Storm and Operation Able Sentry (Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia).

In 2001, CPT Regan attended the University of Nebraska-Omaha.  While in college, he was a member of the Creighton Army ROTC Program and served in the Nebraska Army National Guard as a Scout Platoon Leader with B Troop, 167th Cavalry.

Captain Regan graduated and was commissioned in 2003 as an Armor Officer, branch detailed from Military Intelligence.  His first assignment was to Fort Riley, Kansas where he served with C Company, 2nd Battalion, 70th Armor, Task Force 1-41 Infantry, as a Tank Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer.  CPT Regan transitioned to Military Intelligence and next assigned to the Iraq Assistance Group, as an Intelligence Adviser to the 3rd Battalion, 1st Mechanized Brigade of the Iraqi National Police in Baghdad, Iraq.  During this time, he had participated in two tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Captain Regan’s professional education includes: 11B (Infantryman) Course, Airborne School, Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course, Bradley Fighting Vehicle Course, Drill Sergeant Course, Master Fitness Trainer Course, Air Load Planners and Movement Course, Armor Officer Basic Course, Military Intelligence Officer Tactician Course, Military Intelligence Captain’s Career Course, and Military Advisor’s Course. 

Captain Regan’s current assignment is with the Western Region, 11th Brigade ROTC, where he serves as the Training and Operations Officer for the ROTC Department at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.

Captain Regan is married and has two daughters.

 








MSG William Benda

SMI

Master Sergeant William Benda grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, where he enlisted in the Army in 1986, since then he has served with the 1st I.D., 4th I.D, 8th I.D., 10th Mountain, 1st AD and 3rd AD.  And as been stationed in places such as Ft. Drum, Ft. Carson, and Georgia, and been to overseas locations such as Germany, Romania, Bulgaria, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm, and Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Since completion of Basic Training and AIT as an Infantryman, MSG Benda has served in leadership positions, such as squad leader, section leader and platoon sergeant, with assignments as field recruiter and observer/controller at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center.

MSG Benda is a graduate Airborne School, Jungle Warfare School, Infantry Mortar Platoon Leaders Course, Basic and Advanced Noncommissioned Officers course and the U.S. Army Recruiters Course

MSG Benda’s current assignment is with the Western Region ROTC, where he serves as the Senior Military Instructor for the ROTC Department at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. 

MSG Benda is married and has two children.
