		General (Ret) William Crouch Former Vice Chief of the Staff of the Army Retired U.S. Army Four Star General William W. Crouch spans 36 years during which he served as Commanding General – Eighth Army and Chief of Staff, United Nations Command and U.S. Forces Korea; Commander in Chief, United States Army, Europe and Seventh Army; Commander, Allied Land Forces Europe; and Commander, NATO Peace Implementation (later Stabilization) Force, Bosnia/Herzegovina. General Crouch’s Army career culminated as the U.S. Army’s 27th Vice Chief of Staff. As the Vice Chief of Staff, General Crouch was the Army’s Chief Operating Officer. Presently General Crouch serves as one of five generals who oversee the Army’s Battle Command Training Program, training major Army organizations for their wartime and peacekeeping missions. He is a Senior Fellow with the National War College’s Capstone Program, serves on the board of Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America and the Keck Institute for International and Strategic Studies at Claremont McKenna College. He received a B.A. from Claremont McKenna College and M.A. from Texas Christian University while also serving as an Assistant Professor of Military Science.
		Colonel Michael Boardman Director of the Army's Intelligence Electronic Warfare (IEW) Test Directorate Colonel Michael W. Boardman recently returned from Afghanistan where he served as the lead Military Intelligence Officer for Combined Joint Task Force 180, which is the senior military intelligence officer position in the country. In his Athenaeum talk he will discuss U.S. national objectives in Afghanistan, and address difficulties that the United States, the United Nations, and Coalition operations have had in pursuit of those objectives. Boardman was born June 18, 1952 and raised in Spokane, Washington. In 1974 he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from Claremont McKenna College and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. He earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Willamette University, Salem, Oregon, in 1977, and a Master of Arts in International Security Studies at the Navy War College in 1997. His military education includes the Military Intelligence Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the U.S. Army Airborne School, the Special Forces Qualification Course, the Army Command and General Staff College, and the U.S. Navy War College.
