| Living the Army lifestyle as a cadet in the APSU ROTC Bn is rewarding and fulfilling. ROTC instills order, self-discipline, and pride that will follow you the rest of your life. As a cadet, you will be involved with a multidute of activities and still have the full college experience. I would recommend taking ROTC for a semester to anyone. Come on, give it a shot. |

Stand Out From The Rest
See how interesting college can be when you're a part of Army ROTC. You'll be
a college student first and foremost, just like the rest of the student body,
but there's a key difference: you'll have even more opportunities to succeed.
These opportunities include Field Training Exercises (FTXs) in the spring and
fall where Cadets build their teamwork and leadership skills. Cadets also
participate in Physical Training (PT) on a regular basis to keep up their
strength and endurance.
In addition, each battalion has its own unique calendar of events and activities.

Being part of the Governors Guard Battalion
Austin Peay ROTC combines the kind of classroom work you would expect in college with labs and field exercises you won’t fine in any other class. You could find yourself rappelling down an Air Assault wall at Fort Campbell, building a one rope bridge, visiting a Civil War Battlefield, or taking parting in adventure training designed to sharpen your decision making skills in difficult situations.
But you’re still a college student.
Don’t worry. You will still have plenty of time to enjoy all the other great things about college life such as fraternities, sororities, sports cultural events, or just hanging out with friends. In fact, participating in ROTC is a great way to make and keep great friends during your college years and beyond. Our cadets participate in a host of “normal” college activities. One cadet is president of his fraternity. Another cadet is an accomplished film maker. Many cadets participate in intercollegiate sports, intramural sports, the marching band, and student government. Several cadets even have families but they are still able to spend time with their spouses and children.
