providing officer leadership to the United States Army for almost 90
years. “Summit Rifles!”

Battalion History
The University of Akron Army ROTC program is one of the oldest and most
distinguished programs of its kind, dating back to 1918. In the past 80 odd
years, over 1,700 students have been commissioned into service through the Army
ROTC program at the University of Akron. Today's Corps of Cadets continue in
the traditions and footsteps of their predecessors as leaders in our great
Army. See the Battalion History Page for more information.
